As a kid in the 60's I did this too. A good pinboy could look after two lanes almost as fast as the machines. Thirty six strings in two hours with good bowlers. It is a wonder no one got killed as there were pins flying all over the place.
I didn't realize that this is how they used to set up bowling pins. I used to work at a bowling alley and it's crazy how complex those machines are. I'd hate to do it manually! Thanks for sharing. http://www.sparetimesbowling.com
Oh my goodness, this is how they bowled back in the day? Setting up ten pin bowling by hand would be no easy task round after round. It makes you appreciate bowling today where the machine can set a new round up in seconds. http://www.newmarkethotel.com.au/manhattan-superbowl/
