C/n 51-7156 painted as #1023 which was a sister ship to CG-1240 (C/n G-61) at Coast Guard Air Station St. Petersburg at Albert Whitted Airport when CG-1240 crashed into the Gulf of Mexico on the evening of March 5, 1967, killing all on board. After the crew of CG-1240 dropped a dewatering pump with great precision at night and in dense fog to the disabled 40-foot yacht "Flying Fish" they disappeared into the night never to return again. The wreckage was not found until July 2006, 39 years later. An underwater plaque marks the maritime grave site of CG-1240. The crew of CG-1240 who gave their all were:
