We're content after a great meal from the Van Dyke Cafe (the restaurant was one of the earliest Lums restaurants and one of the longest operating Lums) on Lincoln Road mall. Charles grew up in Miami and served as a missleman in the U. S. Army right after the Cuban Missile Crisis, mainly at the Nike site located in Carol City just west of NW 47th Avenue and north of NW 183rd Street before the Army built permanent buildings west of Red Road for the IFC and the missile launch area next to Snake Creek in Broward County across the street from Dade County.
Charles has provided numerous photos for my Old Miami section of my website and was visiting the area on business from his summer home on Water Island in the U. S. Virgin Islands.
