2010 - Bob Mayer's final day after 40 years of broadcasting at WTVJ in South Florida

Miramar, Florida

Bob Mayer was hired as an intern at Wometco's WTVJ Channel 4 (now NBC and on Channel 6) by the late great Ralph Renick after Bob graduated from the University of Florida in 1969. Prior to college he worked at WFUN 790AM in Miami. Anyone who works for the same TV station for 40 years deserves to be recognized, especially when he's a nice guy and a car nut like he is. I briefly talked with him at Rick Shaw's retirement party on May 11, 2007. I'll miss watching Bob during the week on the morning news and on the Today in South Florida show from 11am to noon. Best wishes for a long, healthy and happy retirement to Bob and his wife Bonnie!
A nice slide show of Bob's last day and retirement party is available for viewing at: http://cmd.shutterfly.com/commands/pictures/slideshow?site=bobmayersignoff&page=bobmayersignoff&album=22
