Thank you for posting, Estela. Please see my comments about Sears Northside and Westland in response to your comments under the ad for the opening of the Palm Springs Village Shopping Center (Westland did not replace Northside). In regards to your comment about the movie theatre, it wasn't mentioned because it was added on to the east side of the Jackson/Byron's in December 1962, almost 3 years after the shopping center opened. I have an aerial photo of the shopping center that shows vacant land east of the Jackson/Byron's - it is athttp://www.pbase.com/image/141558439

I remember shopping with my parents at GC Murphy's and eating at their luncheonette where they sold the best hot dogs and fries! Jackson Byrons (later known as JByrons), of course, replaced by a Ross for Less, Murphy's by TJ Maxx and Grand Union by a Winn-Dixie store. The movie theater is long gone, too, and not even mentioned here. Liggett's Drugs replaced by Eckerd's Drugs. But as for the dance studio, it must have been tucked somewhere in the NW corner of the shopping strip next to the Grand Union.

Holy! I remember almost all of these stores. House of Music...I think that was still there in the early 70's

Rapp's Dance Studio is where I took dancing lessons. It was upstairs and I went for a whole series in the evenings. I must have been around 10 or so. I learned to cha cha among other things.
