Thank you to Vanessa Bechter for contributing this great old image of her mom and dad's Dairy Queen before they added Pappee's Restaurant next to it. The Dairy Queen was on the west side of E. 4th Avenue and it looks like there was a Tower Paint store in the shopping center across the street from it.

There's a Farm Store which is still at the corner of E 43rd St & 4th Ave. Now the old DQ site is occupied by a take-out Cuban Cuisine restaurant that's open 24 hrs and across the street on the NW corner is a McDonald's. The 5&10 cent store is there but a 99 cent store now.

I took tap and ballet at that dance studio. Then my first job was at the dairy Queen.

This was so long ago it's hard for me to remember what was across the street. I do know there was a dance studio because I took tap lessons there. On the cornner on the opposite side of that block was a dime store.
