Way back when I attended college to take a couple of photography courses, we shot only in B&W. We had to do all of the developing ourselves then the printing as well. When digital came along I was disappointed in the digital darkroom when it came to work in B&W. But as time has past and software has become more user friendly with B&W, I am coming to enjoy it again.
To advance in B&W, I am learning many new techniques to work with in Photoshop. Checking out what those who are considered to be the best are doing and how they are doing it, I am trying to present my photography in a way that will not copy theirs, but learn from what they have done to move to the top. I've discovered in Black and White that an understanding of the zone system is a necessity so one can better understand the contrast involved with working in tis medium.
