Does anyone remember Roy Ritzhaupt, a paper company executive from Niagara Falls, N.Y., who used to visit in the 1950s and 1960s with his wife, children and grandchildren?
He was my wife's grandfather and we're thinking of coming up this summer. We'd like to find where they used to stay on an island in the lake.

Hi Dave,

My Father Stanley W. Moore and his wife Melba owned Camp Clearwater from 1964 until 1970. I have very fond memories of those years and how happy my Dad and Melba had been during those years! I have all of the photos that were taken in the Tiny Inn and many others of those days. They are of course not in digital format!
Nice to see some of that wonderful lake again! As my Dad used to say "Aylen Lake is the prettiest lake in Canada! My guess is she still is!!

Dave - Thanks for the 2007 New Year photo of the Lake. I keep going back to your gallery to see what I look forward to each summer. Thank you for all the varied shots. It's an amazing and unusually beautiful place, isn't it? I have been priviledged to see many beautiful places in the world but Aylen ranks above. It is so special, I don't understand it. MY GRANDPARENTS OWNED AND BUILT SHIGWONK LODGE BACK IN THE LATE 40'S AND MY PARENTS (PETER AND JUDY JONES) OWNED TIGHT LITTLE ISLAND ON AYLEN FROM 1954 TO 1976 SO I SPENT EVERY SUMMER OF MY CHILDHOOD AT AYLEN. TOOK MY TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS THERE IN 1997 (VISITED BILL AND BEP PIERCE) TO SHOW MY GIRLS WHERE I SPENT THE BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE

Nothing like beign a thousand miles away yet looking at those pics and having that feeling of what its like to visit. I miss Aylen everyday, and look forward to another year when I can escape to its serene beauty.

My family bought some property on Aylen back in the 1940s and we've been up there every summer (sometimes spring and fall as well) since! I've only been going up there since 1969, but it's a treasure we'll never give up. We look forward to every return. Thanks for the photos - especially the aerial shot! Rich
