Ryan by the wire holder.

Ryan by the wire holder.

The vines require a wire trellis to grow on and I use a 9 gauge galvinized wire. Each roll is 100 pounds (about 45 kilograms) and each row is 420 feet long (about 135 meters) On the first three rows I measured the wire out by rolling the wire on the ground. This was such a task, I decided to get something to let me spool the wire off the roll. When I purchased my supplies, the dealer did not have such a device so I went home and made one from scrape metal I had laying around the yard. I have a welder, tourches, chop saw and grinder. It took about 8 hours to build, and while it's not pretty, it works.
