These are photos of the museum at Camp Blanding, Stark, Florida ... located about 50 miles SW of Jacksonville, FL. If you go, bring your driver license and vehicle registration. Because this is an active military base, security has been stepped up.

Just an update. I am Craig C Calvert son of Pathfinder Charles F Calvert of the 508 PIR as shown in picture Chalk 18. He is living in Franklin Ga. age 92. I believe that he might be the last living Pathfinder shown in that picture. Time takes toll.

Thanks for posting these pictures. My father was in the 79th & trained at Camp Blanding. He wants to see it "one more time" so we are making the trip in 2 weeks. I am going to try to print out these pics & make him a 'book' to look at while we drive. We are coming from south Texas so he will have time.

Folks, you have to know that I only visited the museum many years ago and don't have any connection to Camp Blanding or the museum itself. If you just want to post so someone might see it, go ahead, but you might get better result if you e-mail Camp Blanding directly or perhaps the Department of the Army. I'm just saying I have no info to offer. Sorry!

Does anyone remember my uncle, Joseph Presensky (aka"Wimpy); who was at Camp Blanding in the 1940's ? He once told me that he'd been the Camp boxing champion and I recently found a photo of him doing just that. Now I'm curious to find out more ...especially since he's passed away.

I came across a photo of a group of pathfinders from the 508 PIB standing in front of a plane with # 18 chalked on the side of the plane on the internet. I noticed that many are identified as unknown. My father is identified in the photo but some are listed as unknown. He is alive and well and can probably identify the others. I believe that the photo is in the museum in Camp Blanding. Anybody interested in my obtaining the names?

Fleming Island United Methodist church obtained a wood structure/ church originally build at Camp Blanding in 1941; we think.? This strcture was moved from camp blanding to Orange Park Florida around 1948. We a searching for people who have served or worshiped in this church during WW II. We would also appreciate any other information about this structure.

I found his dogtag in the Ardennes recently and would like to return it to him/his next of kin. Do you have any information on him, or do you know where to try to find more info (NPRC sent his record partially and shows only his place of entry, rank (sergeant) and his was/is a 'negro citizen'). Wish I had pictures for you of the military history of Camp Blanding. My father was Coy A. Stephenson and I lived with him and my step-mother Emma Jane in 1951 and 1952. I do go back on occasion to see the base. Had a wonderful two years there on the base. Joan Stephenson Jenkins

dloftus Thanks for the help. I drove down and contacted the museum about ten years ago and though they had heard of the incidence, they had neither record or photos of the water tower. So I was hoping maybe someone who was station there at the time could help me. It was either late 1941 or early 1942. Thanks again

Abe Cohen I am trying to reach people who were on Camp Blanding during 1942 and 1943 to learn all I can about the Nazi sabotuers who were killed on the main water tower early in 1942. My Dad, Selvin King, passed away on April 19, 2005. He trained at camp Blanding I think in 1941,42. He was then sent to FT. Binning Where he was in the 124th Infantry and at some point wound up in the 45th Infantry and landed at Anzio and one of the first units to reach Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. I am trying to find out all I can about his service starting with Camp Blanding. I do not have his service number. Do any records exist in the Museum that would show his name, no middle initial. Any help would be great. Thanks, His most interested son, Larry King

Abe, Circle Lake is still there! When I took the photos of the museum, it was shortly after the 9/11 attacks and security was very tight. The camp is still there, but I don't think anyone is allowed on base just to look around. If you do a search on "Camp Blanding" on the intenet, you will find a lot of info. If you get the chance, maybe you should come down and tour the museum. Maybe they would let you tour the camp also. If you do, let me know, maybe I could meet you there. They are suppost to be building a new museum and I could get some new photos. Also, I sent you an e-mail about the LED specs.

amazing coincidence!! was looking at your led bulb. then saw reference to camp blanding. i did my basic training there during wwii(sep43-dec 43) havent seen or heard of blanding in the intervening 60 years!!! is circle lake still there? ps please send me led bulb/resistor specs thanks a lot abe cohen
