It is always a challenge trying to surprise my husband with a gift. He can tell just by looking at a package what he is getting. This year, I ordered the gift a month ago. I kept it at my office. One day, he came to help me move from my cube to an office. I had to wrap the gifts that morning and get them hidden in the trunk of my car because there is no real way to explain an Alien Bees box with a picture of the light and a check mark on the color and the size on the side of the box. The next day, I discreetly put them under the tree way in the back. He saw them for the first time when loading the car. I told him that I was now wrapping all his gifts in the largest boxes I could find so he wouldn't know what was in them. (Which although I didn't do this year is a really good idea for future years.)
And, yes! I think he was surprised on Christmas morning when he opened it. I don't do candid shots of people very well, and this isn't a great picture from a photographic perspective. But, I love the excitement on his face and I thought that of all the people who would understand the joy of new photography toys, it would be those of you on PBase.
