The azmiuth adjustment that comes with the Meade Standard Wedge is quite lacking. Two small knobs counter bearing on a thin piese of aluminum on the north pointing side of tht tripod head which provide only a few degrees of adjustment.
I found a nice AZ Mod Design on Jan's LX90 Pages and modified it a bit. I used a 1/4-20 threaded brass rod (could use stainless, but I has brass available locally) and I machined piece of aluminum stock. I drilled and tapped 2 new holes in the tripod head to accept the aluminum block and drilled 2 holes in the wedge to pass the 1/4-20 rod through. 1/4-20 nuts nylon spacers and Hand Knobs from the hardware store were assembeled as per Jan's instructions. I aded a bit of Lithium grease to the rod and the wedge where the rod passes through.
Immense difference in accuracy of adjustments. Definately worth the effort. Next step is to center that ALT Adjuster. Why they put it off-center I'll never understand
