Reyna Guerrero was born in Ocotlán, Jalisco, Mexico. Her family moved to Firebaugh when she was 16 years old and she graduated with honors from Firebaugh High School. She currently resides in Kerman with her husband Alex Guerrero and her three children, Alex Jr. (12 years), Jose (10 years), and Rihanna (4 years). Reyna considers her family to be her top priority and is an active community
member who volunteers her time. She hopes to instill this positive behavior in her children.
Reyna’s volunteer experience includes working at local churches, the Boys and Girls club, Community
Food Bank, her children’s football team and Centro’s family strengthening programs. For the last
4 years Reyna has been a volunteer for the ¿Qué Significa Ser Padres? parent education program and is lead instructor for the Toy Making component.
During the last 2 years, Rihanna has also volunteered for the program as our youngest volunteer, following the role of her mother. Reyna shared with staff that, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Rihanna wakes up early in the morning on her own, stating that she is ready to go to the program. She has taken on the responsibility of preparing small materials like crayons and papers for the rest of the children and setting the work examples for the other children enrolled in the program. Today, mother and daughter are being recognized for their valuable work, not only to Centro La Familia,
but to their communities.
