Fun with Gold Gradients by Anita Stanhope

PSP X. I love gradients, especially gold ones as you know. I created this image as an example of different effects you can achieve very easily. This is not a finished picture, just an exercise.
OPen New Image , I am using around 800 x 800 here. Click on MATERIALS PROPERTIES Palette, the PATTERN tab, then Leaves 07 which is stock PSP. Angle 0, Scale 166.

Click on the BUCKET FILL tool and click on image to fill. Go to LAYERS>DUPLICATE. Hide your original layer by clicking on the eyeball. Make top layer active (turns blue).I renamed it for clarity. Go to ADJUST>HUE/SAT>COLORIZE Hue 40, Sat 178. OK.

LAYERS>DUPLICATE. Go to IMAGE>NEGATIVE. Change top Layer Blend Mode to Luminance.

Go to MATERIALS PROPERTIES. Click on GRADIENT tab> METAL BRASS. Angle 47. Repeat 0. Check Invert.

Using your bucket fill tube, with the presets shown in the horizontal bar, Brightness, Tolerance, Click on the outling or vein of a leaf. Try clicking on the background or other part of a leaf for different effects. You can always use EDIT>UNDO if it is too much. When you are finished, try different blend modes in the Layers Palette for cool effects. Merge.

TIP: If you want to use this edge technique on a photo, sharpen the edges or enhance them first for maximum contrast. You don't have to use negative image on photos. Experiment!
