The Rose

Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone,
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone.
No flow'r of her kindred
No rosebud is nigh
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.

Wow... this is the second image today that reminded
me of the lyrics to a Bette Midler tune, The Rose:
"It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
who cannot seem to give,
and the soul afraid of dyin'
that never learns to live."

Superb decay of the rose. The white background works well.

Superb shot makes me think to this poetry:
And, rose , she lived what the roses live, the one morning space ( François de Malherbe: Consolation with Mr Of Périer (gentleman of Aix-en-Provence) on the death of his/her daughter. (XVI th century french poetry)

Fading flowers have their own beauty, which you have so nicely captured here!
