4 Chicken breasts or 8 thighs
Canola oil
1/4 tsp Sage
1/4 tsp Thyme
1 can (15oz) chicken broth
1 can (15oz) chicken gravy
Garlic (to taste)
1. Brown chicken on both sides in canola oil, remove from skillet and keep warm.
2. Add minced or sliced garlic (to taste) and saute until lightly browned.
3. Add chicken to skillet and add 1 can of chicken broth and 1 can of chicken gravy.
4. Cover skillet and simmer until chicken is nearly cooked.
5. While chicken is cooking make dumplings per this link:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Herbed-Dumplings/Detail.aspx
6. When chicken is nearly done drop dumplings by spoonful to broth and gravy mixture in the skillet, making sure the dumplings are added to the liquid, not on top of the chicken. If you don't want to make the dumplings from scratch you can use Bisquick mix or substitute 1 can (10 oz) of refrigerated biscuits.
7. After adding dumplings (or biscuits) cover pan and simmer for 15min.
8. Serve chicken with dumplings or biscuits and serve with the gravy/broth mixture.*
* Mashed potatoes my be substituted for the dumplings or biscuits.
