This happens in America, the wealthiest country in the world! The story told by this photograph is so compelling you have to look but so sad you want to look away.

-A moving and (regretfully) timeless image of the dark side of the American dream. This is a very passionate statement about who we are as a people, that such suffering exists amidst such prosperity. You were very wise to leave the faces of those passing by out of the frame for they could indeed be any one of us, and if we are honest with ourselves, they are us. (voted)

This is a difficult shot, but you have done a very nice job with it.

OK - I have actually seen this woman on the street - I know exactly where this is - I was on THIS very corner and I witnessed another very wealthy woman kneeling down talking to this one.... the image is still in my mind!! She looked like an ANGEL asking "is there anything I can do for you"- amaazing that you have a photo of this woman!!! Even more incredible that I find it here on PBASE!!!! - Regards

May be she would rather they said good morning or hello! instead they turn away from her as if she did not exist in there society.

A powerful shot. Poverty versus wealth. This lady with minimal clothing is framed between two well dressed gentlemen (as far as what one can see from their trousers and shoes). The eye goes straight to the lady. To complete the overal image the look in her eyes tells the whole story. Very powerful.
Jim.
