Quito is the Capitol of Ecuador. in 1534 Fancisco Pizarro overthrough the Incas and the city was officially founded as San Francisco de Quito in that same year. It is located in north central Ecuador in the Guayllabamba river basin, on the eastern slopes of the Pichincha at an elevation of over 9000 feet and near the equator. Its population is around 1.5 million.
