Canopy Tower was built by the United States as a radar station during the time when the US administered the Panama Canal. It is in Soberiana National Park only a few miles north of Panama City. After it was decommissioned, it was converted to a bird-watching eco-lodge. Windows were put in and the interior space was partitioned into guest rooms with a dining area on the top floor. The roof of the tower is open for viewing into the canopy of the forest. There are a lot of special birds nearby and mammals, too. The famous (to birders) Pipeline Road is nearby. |
