Moths by the Porch Light

This collection of Images began with the early June 2008 heat wave in Athol Massachusetts. A large number of moths were attracted to the mercury vapor light I had purchased at a local home improvement center for just this purpose. I am very pleased with the divcersity and number of moths attracted (June 10 we had 9 Luna Moths around the porch).

I have found Louis Handfield's "Le Guide des papillon Du Quebec" very helpful in determining many of the identifications on this page. This great work written in French, published in 1999 is already out of print and becoming hard to find.
