Rainbow

It had been pouring.
All or a sudden the sky opened.
The sun streamed through.
And there was this huge rainbow.
Right in my rear view.
Camera pulled from the pack
and stuck out the window.
No way to know what I had shot.
No time to look in the viewfinder.
Just snap a few pictures.
One of just the pillar.
A couple of the street itself.
An one, just one straight back.
I got on the highway and could see it to my left.
It was there for almost 5 minutes.
I wished I could stop somewhere.
I just wanted to watch it for a bit.
But alas, there was no way I could.
The highway was just too crowded.
No reason to get killed over a rainbow.
And then it was gone.
Now I assure you, I understand the science.
I know all about refraction of light.
And yet, there is still a simple beauty in it.
The wonder of a rainbow is not lost on me.
I don't need a greater cosmic meaning to them.
I just like to look at them and enjoy them.
They are all too brief moments.

I caught one on 17 June (see PAD) and it doesn't matter how prepared you are, they disappear within moments, just like love..as per the comment from PR Rajan...
