The water mill was originally built in the 1760s but the present buildings mostly date from the 1850s when first owned by the Perry family. The mill is now owned by Tom Dolan and is open to the public in the summer months. There are artists studios on the site. The water wheel now uses only a small part of the water flow, most of the water going to the turbine. The river has a good water flow throughout the year but the output from the turbine is greater when the river below the weir is not flooded.
