And on we go...
Mona and I were ready to look at something else now....let's see, what could we look at? We left the church and started across the Seine, when I noticed all the traffic that runs everywhere in Paris. There are cars everywhere! and scooters in and around all the cars, too! Very intimidating to a tourist...

Notre Dame de Paris
We walked for a bit, and gawked at everything. Then, we came upon the crown jewel of churches in Paris - Notre Dame de Paris. Let's take a look at some of it's wonders...
Look at the decorative scrollwork visible behind the statue.

Notre Dame's North Rose Window
The Rose windows in this church are huge and very detailed. This is the south window.
Wikipedia: The window that is central to the well-known Gothic façade of Notre Dame, Paris, is of more distinctly Gothic appearance, with mullions in two bands radiating from a central rondel, each terminating in pointed arches. It was this window, completed about 1225, that set the pattern for many other rose window including those of the transepts at St Denis and the gigantic and complex window in the south transept at Notre Dame.

The Altar and the Choir
The light was really striking in this area, with the cross getting a lot attention. Very awe-inspiring.

The Ultimate Parisian Image...
Nothing could be more appropriate to a touriste Anglais romantic vision of Paris than a Deux Chevaux sitting outside Notre Dame, waiting for Maurice Chevalier to come running out with Gigi to explore the city. At least, if you're of an age to remember the old movies. Or...Gerard Depardieu trying to fit into the driver's seat. That would be good, too....hahah

The Traffic
I talked about the traffic before, well here's another example of how much there is...

The Tower by day...
We were in Paris during the World Cup of Rugby.
They had a huge television screen rigged on the Eiffel Tower as well as a forest of exhibition tents and displays in the park around the tower.
Here you can see the rugby ball between the arches.

The TV Screen
I never did hear how big the TV screen was, but you can get a sense from this picture. While we were riding a tour bus, we passed by a plaza across the river from the tower, and it was full of people watching this screen with the France game on it.
