Here's the real story: Spreadwings are damselflies that hang out too much with the dragonflies. They're inappropriately socialized insects. It's a psychology lesson. The end.

p.s. Look how big those eyes are--wow! They look like blueberries. That's probably what the birds think, too, when they're swoopin' down for a mouthful. Look out, damselfly!
