Hey Don, my name is Todd Lovstrom and i enjoyed your images. I am from Arizona and i am working on a underwater photo book. I would really like to get in the water with some oceanic white tips. I have conatcted tom at makai and he is in the process of helping me out. I have been told that there can be a difficulty finding the the oceanics in the winter. When were yours taken? How far out were you? Did you use any bait?Thank you

Hi Mr. Erway,

I am kind of new to photography and am a diver from Vancouver BC. I am most interested in macro photography. I just got a cannon G2 camera as well as an ikelite housing and DS50 strobe package. I really appreciate your posts at wetpixel.com and your pictures! I know you've probably been asked this a million times but here goes...feel free to email me if you get the chance:

1. Do you ever clean the inside of your housing? There seems to be some dust and larger particles on the inside of the lens port.

2. what settings do you use. I have been taking some practice pictures while snorkeling out here and have been frustrated that I can't seem to get close enough and that some of my pictures turn out fuzzy. I think I should just shoot at a higher aperature (F8) or so. Do you think aperature priority shooting is the way to go, or do you have any other tips?
3. Do you think I even need the strobe when taking maco shots or will backscatter still be a problem.
3. How do you handle the camera under water. Do you just attach a lanyard to your wrist so you can drop the camera to fiddle with your BC/drysuit etc?

Thanks so much for your help.

Best regards,

Jochi Aronowicz

I am considering upgrading from my Olympus D490Z in an Olympus housing to a Canon G2 in an Ikelite. Would you email me your impressions of how well you setup works? One concern I have is if the built-in flash causes any scatter illumination when using an external strobe. Ron

I got this link from wetpixel. Chris@reefkeep is planning a trip to ST Croix this summer per our discussion, and I'm trying to line up a photo pro from St. John. Are you interested at all.

I saw your photo it convinced me that I need an external flash. But I also saw you've a primary light also, do you used all the time?

I was thinking of getting the Sea & Sea YS-90DX any suggestion on the brackets that I should get too?

Here are some of my photo just using the internal S30 flash. www.pbase.com/choieric

Wish I had the external flash!

Hi,
love your pictures. I'm thinking of buying the G2 with the Ikelite housing. Would like to ask some Questions about Flashes. Please send me an email. Thanks.

Nice work! A few of those fish are really hard to get to pose. I especially like the oceanic whitetip shots.
