A few shots I took at 6MP,medium-sized JPEG in the Nikon D2x set to HIGH Noise Reduction and Med-High in-camera sharpening. I shot this match with a custom Point and Shoot curve which allows me to set steep underexposure in-camera (light metering set to Matrix and Minus 1.7 stops) which builds ridiculously high shutter speeds even at small apertures. Check the EXIF info and look at what a fast shutter can be had in open shade at f/5.6 at "ISO 500" when this curve is loaded. The 300 f/2.8 AFS-Mark II magnesium barreled lens handles well on a monopod, and focuses well and fast. (A very few samples here were made with the 300 on the D70.)
