Whilst at RAF Cottesmore for the afternoon a call came in for Iceberg flight of 2 Pumas to land after a bird strike on Iceberg One, you can see the remains in this crop .

Now if I were designing aircraft costing millions, I would put a mesh in front of all bits that were sensitive to bird strikes.
A couple of quids worth of chicken wire would be very cost effective.
