The Barking House

Lochranza, Isle of Arran view map

The ruined Barking House that stands at the edge of the loch.
Being at water-level, the tide used to flood into it twice a day, filling deep tanks in which fishing nets were ‘barked’ to prevent rot.
Above this sea-washed lower level were a couple of rooms where the people who tended the nets lived.

Oh well done - great lead in line. And thanks for the explanation - Amazingly there are electric wires in the roof space of the building, imagine laying that wiring as the sea comes in! I always wondered what it had been used for.
