The underwater documentary ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin was filming when he was killed earlier this year is to be aired on American television in the New Year.

The show, called ‘Ocean’s Deadliest’, will air in the US on January 21. It will be shown on Discovery Channel and Animal Planet simultaneously.

Irwin was filming the special the coast of Queensland in September when a stingray’s barb struck him through the heart.

Paramedics flew to the scene by helicopter but the 44-year-old died before the treatment arrived.

It’s not yet known when the show will be shown in the UK or Irwin’s native Australia
