AHDRA stands for the All Harley Drag Racing Association. For many years, the AHDRA has been the premier drag racing venue for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts. From low six-second 220+ mph Top Fuel nitro dragsters and 9-second street bikes to 14-second long-distance touring rides and everything in-between, the AHDRA has something to offer every Harley performance aficionado.
The association sanctions and promotes more than a dozen events each year across the United States, starting in March at Daytona and usually ending in November in Las Vegas. If you are into Harleys or thrilling motorcycle racing and have the smell of nitro in your senses and the ground-pounding roar of a Harley in your blood, be sure to checkout the AHDRA’s website www.ahdra.com and don’t forget to drop in on one of their exciting events in the lower 48.
For any gear heads who are interested, the AHDRA's 6-second Top Fuel Harleys are currently limited to 200-cubic-inch engines, which are outputting roughly 900 HP. The high 8-second Street Pro gas bikes are limited to 139 cubic inches and dyno somewhere in the area of 225 rear wheel HP. In contrast, a new 88-ci or 96-ci Harley Twin Cam straight off the showroom floor produces about 65 HP at the rear wheel. Engine crankshaft HP is roughly 15-percent higher.
Following are some of my fave AHDRA photos captured during several events in recent years. Included are candids, isolated action shots and terse essays of unfolding launch sequences taken in the manufacturer’s midway, pit areas, staging lanes and on the racetrack.
P.S. The secret to horsepower is turning chaos into torque!

April 08 we went to St Louis for NOPI event. we get to the track and on the other side of the stands is an all Harley drag weekend. had i known that i would have split the weekend and went to the drags one day and NOPI the other day. could not believe how far we were from the strip yet we could hear them plain as day.
