A Gathering of Legends: CAF's Veteran's Day - 11/11/08
For over three decades, the Commemorative Air Force's Arizona Wing at Falcon Field (FFZ), Mesa, Arizona has honored the courageous men and women who have sacrificed so much to preserve our heritage of freedom and liberty. The CAF’s November 11, 2008 Veteran’s Day ceremonies, “A Gathering of Legends,” were planned to pay tribute to these heroes, past, present and future.
Military aviation veterans, including the Tuskegee Airmen, Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPS), Fighter and Bomber Pilots, Navigators, Aces and others gathered at the CAF museum to share their experiences during WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Cold War and tell, first hand, what it was like to fly over hostile skies and through telltale black puffs of anti-aircraft flak or make a 2,000+ mph reconnaissance flight in an SR-71 Blackbird.
If you ever are in the Phoenix, Arizona area during Veterans Day, be sure to stop by the Commemorative Air Force's Mesa museum and thank our veterans for what they have done to protect our freedom.
This gallery is dedicated to all American veterans and to the volunteer members of the Commemorative Air Force.
