While most tourists are crazy about Santorini, Meteora (meaning "suspended in the air") was one of the reasons I signed up for this tour besides for the ruin sites. I've seen different kinds of rock formation in the Mid West, Israel and Iceland, but the rocks in Meteora, with a few of them topped with a monastery built close to the edge, certainly look more breathtaking.
The morning we went to Meteora was the only rainy and very cool day of the entire trip. There's a saying "When it rains, it pours." The staircase going up or down was a little slippery. Even walking up was not easy, imagine building those monasteries a few hundred years ago?
In the afternoon it became sunny for a while. The photos of the foggy and clear landscape created two kinds of atmosphere.
so want to be there myself.... too bad that I don't have enough time to visit there last time in Greece.....

I was there, and totally agree with your comments about the majestic place!

We climbed up here also. It was quite a steep set of stairs. The rooms of skulls was interesting as these monks never come down from their monasteries.
