Day 6 - Italy was way behind me. Austria welcomed me back with a partly cloudy morning, but a very sunny afternoon. Perhaps it was raining on the Dolomites.

Kufstein is a peaceful town, with a huge and dominating castle overlooking the hills and rivers, plains and valleys around it. The castle is so big and full of interesting things in display, that one can easily spend a whole day inside there.

To reach the castle, there's a lift (the Americans call it an elevator) taking tourists up from the court yard outside the ticket booth. I walked in there with a couple, seeing no one inside the lift, and there were only two buttons showing the directions, I thought it was supposed to be operated by the passengers. I pressed the Up button, and it started moving. I took a picture of the beautiful town scene (#09), and stepped out when I reached the top.

When I thought I had seen enough and came down, I just realized there was a lift operator. He just happened to be on a break for two minutes when I took his job. Too bad the couple did not offer me any tips.
