Düsseldorf is a very interesting city. It's an international business and financial centre. It's also renowned for its fashion industry as well as the trade shows. Besides, It has the third biggest airport in Germany. Yet, on top of all these, what attracts me most is the fabulous architecture, classic or modern.
I was in Düsseldorf twice so far, and each time I only had a couple of hours for taking pictures. The first time was the end of Nov, 2009, the days were short to begin with, so after I arrived I rushed to the old town before sunset. I couldn't photograph the city hall because there was a crowded Christmas market with a huge carousel right in front of it. I had planned to go to Düsseldorf Hafen the next morning, but it was pouring non-stop after daybreak and eventually I ended up going to Bonn.
The second time was June, 2011. As if to make up for what I had missed out, I concentrated on shooting the uniquely-designed buildings in Düsseldorf Hafen (meaning harbour, #1 - 15) to race with the rain. Before I could put my camera in the bag, I already felt the drops on my head while I was walking along the promenade to the old town to take a good look at the city hall (19 & 20), where my good friend's son is working now.
What a nice collection of images showing many facets of Dusseldorf ( I do not know the place but it is as though I know it now after looking at your photos); my favourites are the last 4 images.
