Gustave Evacuation: 17 hours to Birmingham

. . . or why people risk staying when a hurricane threatens. I am still not sure if this hurricane has brought or will still bring damage to our area or any other area, but wanted to share the evacuation experience. It is very stressful.

The trip to Birmingham should have taken us a little over 5 hours. We left at 5 AM and arrived at 10:30 p.m. Exits off the highway were blocked for miles. No gas, no bathrooms, no food unless you brought it with you. Here are a few snaps of the crazy experience. Quality is not so great - - Part of this experience is crazy people like me - -I was snapping pics with one hand and driving with the other hand. We were lucky to go 10 mph, but still. . .
