Edoardo Mattiuzzi is a master sculptor that has brought his rare artistic talent to America from the romantic cultural center of the Europe...The artistic cradle of the world where Italian Renaissance resolved to give life and expression to nature and all of life through the arts: painting, sculpture and the grandeur of architecture, Roman frescos, etc.
Edoardo was born in Venezia, Italy and at the age of three (3) moved to Milan. There he studied art with the masters....He mastered the visual arts in Venice, Rome, Lago di Como and Carrara, Italy. Later, when Edoardo moved to the United States he also studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Edoardo, first, chose to utilize his love of design by employing his talent in ice sculptures.
As a child in Italy growing up amongst the masters of esthetic communion Edoardo was sparked with artistic ferver to create, sketch, paint, carve and sculpt in ice and later more permanently in wood.
Although born an incurable romantic Italian....Edoardo's temperment, also, belongs to the modern world. We live in an age of nervous tensions. Edoardo, too, is artistically tense, neurotic, always restlessly searching for deeper definition and significance to his life and his art.
Opposing emotions are self evident in the intensity revealed in his sculptures. Impressive and meaningful are the crisp cuts his style of chain-saw mastery imposes on choice selected cords of wood. The finished pieces, with carefully crafted grain and smooth finishes, long to be caressed as all good wooden articles do.
