Many fond memories of listening to and visiting KOMA-AM radio studios located at
820 SW 4th in Moore, Oklahoma in 1976.

I just discovered this site after all these years. Good to see Phil Robbins, Johnny Dark, Deane Johnson, Danny Williams and Ronnie Kaye. I had some great years at KOMA competing with WKY. My best wishes and thanks goes out to all the Oklahomans and people in about 26 states that listened to 1520 at night.

Jerry Payne received a post card from state in the Union. Even Alaska and Hawaii. That is how far it got out.

I remember the Jerry Payne show circa 1959-1960. I was picking it up interference free about 220 miles west of WKBW's transmitter, because KOMA was switching to the daytime non directional antenna pattern at local midnight. I believe the FCC made them stop doing this late in 1960.

Throughout most of 1959, Rod Roddy was still on the 6-9 morning shift, followed by George Wiley (9-noon), Kirby Kane (noon-4), Ron Thompson (4-7) and Don Hodges (7-12). Jerry Payne handled the all-night shift, with the exception of an "automated" Silent Sam on Wednesday morning.

my first job in radio was at KOMA in 1959 ...I did part time fill in and changed the church tapes on Sunday morning and then pulled a shift on Sunday afternoon...I was hired by the great Rod Roddy ..Jack Sampson was GM, Don Bruce,Kirby Kane were two of the names that come to mind as on the air guys. I was a college kid at OU and if I remeber right I was paid 5 dollars an hour
