In Louisiana, Twelfth Night signifies the beginning of the carnival season, which ends on Mardi Gras Day. The festive Mardi Gras King Cake is an essential treat at any authentic Mardi Gras celebration.
YOU NEED: Greased cake pan and 2 packages ready-to-bake canned cinnamon rolls (16 rolls) with icing, Purple, Green and Gold decorating sprinkles/sugar crystals. Optional extra icing: Powdered Sugar and Warm Water. Purple, Green and Gold reflect the 3 magi who visited the Baby Jesus on 12th Night. A plastic baby, bean or pecan is inserted in the cake and the person getting the surprise is King of the party and responsible for the next cake.
