columbia has no idea what to do to gather tourists so they worship mules. funny...mules are more intelligent than most of the town's population.

yes i agree. i live in columbia and the only information i saw in the daily herald in friday's edition said "mule day parade, 6:30pm". pretty lousy coverage for the hometown paper. we are new to the area and would love to know more, but websites are not updated and there is a severe lack of organization. but this does not shock me as life in columbia is quite different than other faster paced cities where information is more plentiful.

I have visted several Maury County sights and cannot believe how hard it is to find a calendar of events for Mule de Gras....

What is Mule du Gras, exactly:
When did it begin?
Who sponsors the event?
Where do proceeds go?
Is the parade in May the only event?
I've searched the Mule Day website, and visited other sites with links to Mule de gras, but can't grasp just what it is, other than a Mardi Gras type parade. Looks like fun, and I'm all for it - just curious. I would like to know more about it?
