Last night, as I was sitting in a seminar (on portrait photography -- I should be paying more attention), I decided to catch up on some of my Rwanda mission shots. This one is of a boy at our clinic in Gisenyi being checked for an eye infection. It was very common for the children to have eye problems, ranging from conjunctivitis to much more serious problems. Unfortunately, we were not conducting general eye testing, because it was also clear that many, many of these kids needed various types of corrective lenses. Fortunately, the clinic facility in Kigali had hundreds of donated eyeglasses -- just waiting for someone qualified to select and distribute them.
