Early evening shot of US Capitol Building. I think this is one of the most inspiring views of the building -- for reasons I can't explain. I'm not a big flag-waving type, but as many times as I have stood at this location and as many different perspectives from which I've viewed this building, this one always tugs a little at my throat. All the platitudes (and brickbats) aside, this building, to me at least, is probably the clearest physical symbol of this country and what it means to be American. I shudder to think about the possibility that the fourth plane on 9/11/01 might have destroyed it.
Photo notes. The original photo has essentially no color adjustments, and I think it best represents the colors (on my screen, anyway) of the actual scene. However, I decided to fiddle with the colors using separately the auto levels and auto curves adjustments, each with and without a warmng filter (85w) applied -- yielding five significantly different images. I might have too much time on my hands. Anyway, here they are, FWIW.
