Morning trail run on New Orleans' Bonnet Carre' Spillway park trail. This park is evidentally sacrificed every few years when the Might Mississippi threatens to engulf New Orleans. There is a very long "dam" with removable slats that can be opened to permit water from the Mississippi to flow into Lake Ponchetrain and, thus, miss out on the opportunity to drown New Orleans. Coleen Perillous-Landry has some excellent pics of the spillway thingie itself, along with some commentary about the process of building the spillway.
