11/22/04 -- Hmmm... What's this thing?

I was looking for some old slides, and I found this strange-looking device -- seem to remember my mother making me learn how to operate something like this before I went off to college.

Grilled (pressed) cheese (sounds dirty) would work -- except for the plastic/nylon residue left from the time I tried to iron a windbreaker. I can't believe no one has commented on the spider web (ok, strand) and the quarter inch of dust on the slide albums. Guess you guys are as fastidious and I assumed (or you're all just very polite).

It is used to make grilled cheese sandwiches. An excellent device for perfectly toasted bread - IF you remember to turn the steam off.
