Round Top (often called Big Round Top because of its better-known neighbor Little Round Top), was at the end of the Union line on the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg (July 2, 1863). Had the Confederate troops under Longstreet successfully used it to take Little Round Top, it is likely that Lee's forces would have prevailed in the battle, changing the course of the war.

Today, Round Top is a peaceful hill with a nice hiking trail to the top. This time of year, Round Top (and the entire countryside in this part of Pennsylvania) is resplendent in fall foliage colors. It's a nice place to live.
