Hi, ive found a couple of bank notes in my mums garage, one is clearly a 20 Hong kong dollar as its written on it, however the other note I have dosent say what it is, it has a chinese/Japanese guy on it, it has 6000 in the top left and right, 2000 in the bottom left and right hand corners. There's writing on it but dosnt look like chinese or Japanese writing. If anyone could help me that would be great.
Thanks in advance
James

Hi David, just thought you should know this is actually 1 Jiao. It is of smaller value than 1 yuan. There are 10 Jiao to the Yuan. There is also an even smaller denomination called a Fen but this is almost completely fallen out of circulation. Again 10 Fen to the Jiao. 1 Yuan is actually a shade of green with chairman Mao on it. All yuan notes have Mao on them.

Hi John! Thank you for visiting my galleries and for your kind words. I do not have history about the currencies. However, if anyone would like to provide me with this information, I will gladly post it with my note images. I have several more notes to add here. I need to warm up the scanner and get busy! David

I LLLLove this web site. Do you know if you will ever have a little history on how the currency of each country came to be. In China there use to be 4 currencies. Is the Yuan Renminbi one currency or a combo of the 2 (like the name indicates)?

Thanks sincerely,
John
