Sungei Buloh Nature Park, Singapore

Sungei Buloh Nature Park is a mangroves and wetland wildlife refuge located at the northern end of Singapore. It is a wonderful hideaway considering that Singapore is only a 14 x 25 mile island of 4 million people. This is a collection of photos that typifies what can be seen at Sungei Buloh. One of the highlights of this park is its heronry where Purple and Grey Herons nest. The pictures were taken with a Canon EOS D30 with the longest lens being a 100-400 IS. I am the hottest girl in school. its true but i hope u don't think i am boasting.the pics, everything here is as hot as i am. i went there when i was a kid. i was amazed by nature, the animals and insects. so to me sungei buloh is awesome when i was a little kid.i hope i could go sungei buloh again. i have no boyfriends cos' thats really u noe... yucks to me. but mayb i will have and that time i will go sungei buloh with him. some animals there i can't see cos' they r all hiding somewhere. i hope to see the smooth otter. i couldn't see any when i was there. i can't see the monitor lizard either but i hope to see it. looking at these pics. really kept me going.i ask for a request. thats update this place a little more to let me ge hooked up! ok ? i am your fan. i won't say my name in case my schoolmates see my comment and keep asking me bout it. i am your fan.i will only put an artifical name.

I love this place! this place rocks! I am a girl. ( won't say who i am ) I love sungei buloh and i love animals ( all sorts ) very much. i went to sungei buloh because my school wanted us to do a project all about sungei buloh. I enjoyed myself except i got mosquito bites! haha. i saw a monitor lizard. I was glad it was far away cos it might eat me! haha. anyway i wanted to say ........ this place rawks !!

i have a neighbor who i think ahs either a water monitor or a komodo dragon and i cant tell because if te distance. The poor thing is in a 6x6 cage.

What is the status of Milky Stork at Sungei Buloh? I saw one there on Saturday 25 June 05, I would say a sub-adult do to residual dark feathering on upper parts, and apparently unringed? Are these birds escapes, part of a reintroduction programme or genuine visitors?

The story behind the Grey Heron was that I spotted this poor bird perched in a dead tree in a heavy rain storm and noticed that it would occasionally try to fly but was restrained. Thinking it was tangled in a cord I called the park ranger and together we safely rescued the poor bird, which had its feet tied together with rope. The only thing we could figure was that the bird had been captured and was made into a pet and had escaped. Anyway the rope was taken off its feet - there was no broken skin and the bird was safely released. Sad story with a happy ending.
