Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical

Finding a suitable ultra-wide prime that is sharp from corner to corner has been a challenged. Then came Samyang with their exceptional 14mm f/2.8. What a pleasant surprised – this lens is sharp even wide open!

Mine is the Rokinon UMC version. I’ve included some samples and test photos I made on this lens. I made identical shots at f/2.8, f/5.6, f/11, and f/22 with the lens focused on infinity. I also made identical shots with the focus set on 3 feet. In the 3 foot focus test I am only posting the shot at f/16 – as this places a total “in focus” distance of 1’3” to infinity! Therefore, if you can shoot at f/16, this simplifies manual focusing for landscapes.

With the exception of the last picture of brick wall corrected with PT lens, these pictures have no distortion adjustments.
