Message from David Wogan
I first developed an interest in photography or more accurately, photographic equipment back in the late 1970’s. I say that because although I was fascinated by the process of creating images I had not yet settled on any particular photographic genre and in truth was competent in none of them.
With the advent of digital capture, I began to progressively expand my interest in landscapes, albeit in a haphazard manner. It was not until 2007 that I finally adopted a fully planned and organised approach to photographing the wonderful landscape that lay on my doorstep.
For me, the images that are the product of my efforts form only part of this satisfying pursuit. By far the greater element of satisfaction comes from the fact of being there. Whether it be on a deserted Cornish beach in the middle of winter or the summer sun rising over the Norfolk Broads or the autumn sunset in Snowdonia - the many hours that I spend, often in total solitude represent the ultimate reward.
For my day job, I work as a senior manager for a large American software company. I am often asked if I would ever consider pursuing a full-time career in Photography? My answer is always a resounding NO! What I do for a living and what I do for leisure are as night and day. Yet it is that very contrast and balance that when taken together, make it a an entirely rewarding and fulfilling combination.
