Here is the railway station at Valley Heights. The railway lines to the left of the main line are very old and
remain from the days of steam locomotives. Here at Valley View the New South Wales Government
Railways maintained a roundhouse, turntable, coaling, watering and maintenance facilities for steam
locomotives. This was the point at which locomotives of west bound trains would be changed and/or
supplied with "double headers" for the long Blue Mountains line climb. These days the old complex
still exists and is maintained by teams of volunteer enthusiasts as a working museum. We find that
it is closed on this occasion and so we are unable to take a closer look.
