In direct contrast to glass towers, monorails and vehicular traffic there are a number of ornate
old nineteenth century buildings which STILL survive (at least as facades) in the Sydney CBD.
I think some of them are truly glorious.

Before you put up the description I thought that this might have been one of the buildings in the southern reaches of Pyrmont or Ultimo, though there are still a few of these down in the Kent St area too. Interesting level of detail; the buildings from the late 1800's were certainly a lot more decorated than the modern architecture that can be glimpsed on the right of frame.
